When registering by fax, please include a direct debit authorization. Registrations by post that do not contain a direct debit authorization will not be processed. If a participant does not start, the entry fee may not be claimed back. This also applies in case of sickness. ELEGIBILITY TO COMPETE Speed-Skaters will be admitted only. Wearing helmets is mandatory and hand-protectors are recommended. COLLECTIVE REGISTRATIONS For the European Masters 2008, participants must be licenced by their National Federation. The National Federation must confirm that the participants are registered with a member organization. Only participants from European nations will be considered. Each participant has to fill out an entry form of the European Masters. AGE GROUP ALLOCATIONS Age group 30: Female and male participants born between 1978 and 1969 Age group 40: Female and male participants born between 1968 and 1959 Age group 50: Female and male participants born between 1958 – 1949 Age group 60: Female and male participants born in or before 19487 Female and male participants are evaluated in separate categories. INSURANCE AND LIABILITY The participation is at participants own risk. No liability of any kind will be assumed neither by the City of Gera. This limitation of liability expressly includes accidents, loss or damage of clothing and other belongings. Physical fitness to compete is presupposed. By collecting your race number the participant confirms his/her fitness to compete. COURSE The course is a marathon closed road course with a length of 3 km which has to be completed 14fold by the athletes. The course has been officially measured (42,195 km) and located nearby the Speedskating track. It will be kept free of traffic by the police and additional helpers. Instructions by route marshals have to be followed. FINISH The finish line is located in Gera, Am Elsterdamm. The finish is closed at 5.00 pm for all skaters. ROAD SERVICE There is one service point on the course with beverages and in the finish area, too. Medical care will be provided on the circuit, but also in the finish area. START There will be a separate start-box for every age category. Mixing of the different age category during the race is not permitted. RULES During this event, the C.E.C. Sports Rules and C.E.R.S. Rules will apply. PREPARATORY MEETING Each Federation has to declare one delegate upon registering for his event. The delegates meeting will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2008. Time and place will be announced in time. Starting packages: Sunday, July 27, 2008 Participants can pick up their starting packages at the Speedskating track, Am Elsterdamm, Gera on Sunday, 09.00 am. Medal presentation ceremony - approximately at 05.00 pm at the track in Gera Race numbers are non-transferable. Race numbers have to be fastened in a position where they can be easily seen. One race number is to be fastened to the left thigh. The starting order requires all athletes to be placed in starting blocks according to gender and age groups. The certificates of performance, including personal ranking and time can be downloaded and printed from the internet. The award ceremonies for the three fastest competitors of each age category will take place at the end of the event. Time will be recorded electronically. On the whole course of the “European Masters 2008, the official time will be taken by special transponder. Therefore, all participants are required to wear a transponder. Participants have to rent a transponder for 5,00 EURO. If renting a transponder, please bring 30,00 EURO deposit in cash when picking up your starting package. After the race, you will be reimbursed 25,00 EURO. Participants have to return their transponder at the latest at 6.00 pm, otherwise the transponder will be considered as bought.
